By championing intergenerational collaboration and exploration, we work together to construct spectacular projects—big and small—that highlight the magic of creative cooperation. At the core of each of our programs is a belief in young people as producers of learning and culture and as agents of change in our communities.

Here’s what our community says makes Beam special.

Beam welcomed 550+ campers to Beam Camp and Beam Camp City during summer 2022.

Moubarak first came to Beam Camp City as a camper in 2021, when he attended more than half the summer with his classmates from Bronx International High School. Prior to this summer, he contacted Beam Center wanting to return as a youth staff member; reflecting on how much he enjoyed his summer as a camper, it was a no-brainer to welcome him back. Moubarak joined Beam Camp City’s counselors team and was central to welcoming and creating a community for campers of all ages, including his peers from Bronx International.

Beginning spring 2022, Omarion began training as a Project Fellow on this year’s Beam Project New Hampshire. Throughout the project Omarion gained skills in prototyping and fabricating large-scale projects and was integral to the project process as a Project Assistant at Beam Camp. Bringing his experience from the Project Production enterprise and his work with the artist, Macon Reed, Omarion helped facilitate project-building sessions with campers. Speaking of his growth through this Enterprise, Omarion says “I don’t want to call myself an expert, but I’m really good at this stuff now,” including “using tools like the miter saw, welding, and jigsaw.”
