ouR HOSTS

  • A 6-week creative training-intensive program where youth design and build large showcase projects intended to communicate their creation and imagination of another world during The Otherworlds Fair!

Hosted on Governors Island, 6 teams composed of 14 Youth Staff and 1 adult Discipline Specialist focus on projects in the fields of Food, Fashion, Music, Fabrication and Storytelling. Youth are exposed to a range of specialized career-aligned disciplinary skills and are able to elect which they hone in on to bring their visions in that medium to life. Youth will showcase their many stories of their world to the festival community!

  • Made up of high school and college aged youth, our Workshop Team has spent the Summer learning animation, woodworking, circuitry, art techniques and safety protocols that  guide them in making free workshops for festival-goers to participate in during The Otherworlds Fair.

Having learned these many skills, the youth in our other host group, Workshop team encourage the public to learn the same skills alongside them in real time!

  • SPARK, our newest summer program, where teenagers between 14-15 years old imagine, then create their dream spaces physically using: spatial design practices, augmented reality, drafting, model making, and art & crafts to bring these spaces to life.

Final designs will be up for display during the festival to check out and engage with!

  • Students will create interactive modular installations designed and built separately at seven different high schools. When combined, these ecosystems will tell a unique story related to this year’s theme (‘What’s Under the Surface’). The program focuses on different model making skills and techniques including: architectural drawing, woodworking, lighting and soldering design, photography, and media branding.

The project will be displayed and exhibited on Governors Island as portfolio pieces during The Otherworlds Fair.
