Grades 2-5

In this class we will explore the possibilities of light by making a great variety of lamps and projectors. Projects will include a wall hanging lamp in an eccentric custom shape and color, a projector to throw colorful images across walls and an internally lit miniature house in a night landscape. We will work with materials including wood, cloth, paper, wire, ceramics and many others. We will learn about light and simple electronic circuitry.

Workshop Dates: 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, and 1/27. No workshops 12/23 or 12/30 for Winter Break!

David Golann was born in Boston to a family of photographic scientists and inventors. He now resides in New York City where he practices sculpture, fine art photography and commercial photography. He instructs young people in art and design at several institutions, including Beam Center/Beam Camp, Brooklyn Friends School and the International Center of Photography.
