Day Camps at Beam Center

Led by our fearless Guides, campers explore a single concept, theme, or raw material through different media and creative practices. Past themes have included: Wood, Color, The Future, Balance, Plastic, and Sound. Our faculty are artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, engineers, storytellers, makers, and big idea people; all are practitioners and experts from across the creative landscape. Campers have written plays, performed with life-size puppets, and built motion-controlled electric dioramas. Kids will make connections between the disciplines they explore and collaboratively document their discoveries and creations! Each week is different.

Our School Break and Summer Day Camps run 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday with drop-off beginning at 8:00 AM and pick up until 5:30 PM. Kids bring their own lunches, and Beam provides two snacks each day. Tuition is $600 per week, or $575 per week if you sign up for multiple weeks: Summer and School Break weeks can be combined for the discount.

A $250 non-refundable deposit per week is due at registration. Day Camps are open to kids in grades 2 through 6.  Tuition Assistance is available to qualifying families. By registering your child for Day Camp, you agree to all TERMS OF SERVICE.

Midwinter Day Camp 2016

FEBRUARY 15-19, 2016: METAL

ALLEN RILEY

Metals have special properties that have made them important in technologies from ancient times to the present: they can be melted and molded into any shape like coins and jewelry, they can vibrate to produce sound like the strings of a guitar, they can hold up weight like the frames of furniture and skyscrapers, and they can conduct electricity like in computers. This week, we will explore different types of metal and their many uses.
