Our early years of building spectacular projects in the New Hampshire forest taught us the critical impact an environment has on learning and growth.
Beam Center spaces allow for adaptation to the demands of each project and the interests of the collaborators. Our spaces support opportunities for celebration and exhibition and make room for diverse collections of materials and tools.

Beam Center RH
Red Hook, Brooklyn
Originally a coffee bean warehouse adjacent to the Brooklyn docks, our 3,400 square foot space combines a garage workshop and sky-lighted, double-height loft to inspire teachers, students, and staff. Red Hook is Beam Center’s administrative headquarters as well as our materials and equipment hub. Here we prototype and build projects for our Project Leader and Project Production Enterprises, host educator professional development sessions, and collaborate with youth in our Apprenticeship program.

Strafford, New Hampshire
Founding Board Trustee, Fabian Jabro of Standard Architects worked with Brian and Danny to envision and build Beam Camp on the site of the 100+ year old Parker Mountain Scout Reservation. Beam Camp’s nine cabins (one of them built by campers), wood, metal workshops, FabLab, and dining hall sit on 106-acres including Big and Little Willey Ponds. Dotted with past Big Projects, our Beam Camp staff host new and returning campers who collaborate with Beam Center-trained teens and young adults employed as counselors, teachers, and fabricators.

Governors Island, New York City
A glorious mashup between nature and the city, Governors Island was built on generations of complicated indigenous, military, and commercial histories. Our space on Governors Island embraces these dichotomies and offers the ultimate Beam Center learning environment. Continuing our tradition of Big Projects in a new space, Governors Island is the home of our summer day camp, Beam Camp City.
