Our Apprentices first completed 3 of their programs introductory projects: Pocket Plants, LED Flowers, and Tote Bags & Candles; and are now working on their final project, Lamps.

The project building portion of our Spring 2023 Apprenticeship is coming to an end and soon the program will move into the Learning to Teach component. Apprentices build projects center around a theme and the Spring 2023 theme is Imagining Under The Sea. Checkout their sculptures and chairs.

Over the last few weeks, Beam Project Designer Rose and Program Managers Jenny and Breanna have been prototyping projects related to the Apprenticeship’s theme, The Shapes We Make. Learn more about the project Apprentices will be creating this fall and see some of the early prototypes.

Through the Beam Center Apprenticeship Program, we train teams of NYC youth in collaborative project-making and leadership. Our Spring Apprentices are currently participating in Beam’s “Learning to Teach” instruction, which gives them a taste of what it is like to be a Project Leader and teaches them how to facilitate project-based programs for other youth.
