Taking pride in work does not generally come naturally to the adolescent; especially when that work originates in their own imagination or idea.
One of our key metrics of success in progress, therefore, is the “I made this face.”
Announcing the 2023-2024 Beam Project Governors Island
We are excited to announce our 2023 -2024 Beam Project Governors Island: seeAsaw, to be built at Beam Camp City during summer 2023. seeAsaw is an interactive and immersive structure of 6 seesaws, connected by a spectacular draping hammock made from rescued fishing nets, which moves in wave-like motions that are reminiscent of the sea. seeAsaw was designed by Andre kong studio in collaboration with Ruben Correia and Ghost Diving USA.
PS 676 Field Trip - Oyster Reefs
Second graders from PS 676 Red Hook Neighborhood School visited Beam Center on Governors Island last week. As part of their ongoing in-class project involving reef structures, students are collaborating with our Project Designer, Serena, to learn about oysters and their reefs in the waters of NYC.
